Juthamas finds form again

After a non-podium finish in the women's 200m in the first leg of the Asian Grand Prix in Bangkok last week, Thailand's Juthamas Thaworncharoen regained her form to win a silver in the second leg in Banglore, India on Monday.
Juthamas was a bronze medallist at last year's SEA Games in the Philippines and also anchored Thailand's 4x100m relay squad to a second place finish in the Asian Games in South Korea. However, her time of 24.06 seconds on Monday was a far cry from when she finished third in Manila in 23.96secs. In the first leg of the Grand Prix, the Thai sprinter finished a disappointing fourth in 24.21secs. On Monday the gold medal went to Guzel Khubbieva of Uzbekistan in a time of 23.35secs, while Vietnam's Vu Thi Huong took the bronze. Another Thai runner, Watchara Sorndee, won a bronze medal in the 100m in a time of 10.53secs. The SEA Games gold medallist finished second in Bangkok. China's Wen Yongyi retained his first-leg title after he stormed home in 10.42secs, with India's Anil Kumar second. Kazakhstan's Olga Rypakova upstaged Anju Bobby George of India to win the women's long jump gold after clearing 6.39-metres. Feng Yun of China, the Asian Games women's 100m hurdles winner, repeated her feat from Bangkok in a time of 13.13secs, while Rohan Fernando and Prasanna Sampura-kumara gave Sri Lanka a top-two finish in the men's 400m. Hari Shankar Roy announced his recovery from a back injury by winning the men's high jump.
