Students at a school in Phrae's Den Chai district in the far North had to be evacuated upstairs during their lunch break yesterday after flood waters swamped the school.
"Flooding from the overflowing creek damaged our cookhouse and a multi-purpose building," Ban Huai Rai School teacher Prasit Kaewkan said yesterday.
Officials were quickly dispatched to inspect the school and do what they could to help.
Boonchuai Phanmaee, chairman of Huai Rai's tambon administrative organisation, said heavy downpours on Sunday night badly damaged trees and caused flooding in many areas.
But he said there were no reports of injuries or death.
Flood water had marooned Ban Kuang Buk, which is being developed as a destination for tourists, in tambon Huai Rai, a resident said.
