Due to the location, long-time restaurateur and former fashion designer Anna Pop hopes PT212 will be a hit with New Yorkers of all types.

"I want this place to be friendly and inviting at lunch and dinner for local residents and business customers of all ages," she said in a press statement. "PT212 was designed as a welcoming environment to hang out, but also to have an affordable sushi or Thai meal with friends and family. As a long-time New Yorker, I am a proponent of style and substance over the more ostentatious trend currently witnessed in Thai and Asian cuisine being played out in Manhattan nightlife on the West Side."

Created by Visual Mixology, the 5,000-square-foot venue is brightly painted and features decorative touches such as crochet and bamboo bent-wood lighting, ornate carved screens and a bar-top made of bottles.
