Planet Thailand hits Manhattan

Thai restaurant Planet Thailand 212 or "PT212" will officially open in the Manhattan area of New York at the end of the month after a decade of successful business in its original location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Planet Thailand is Brooklyn's most popular Thai eatery. The Manhattan outlet will be located at 30 West 24th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.Due to the location, long-time restaurateur and former fashion designer Anna Pop hopes PT212 will be a hit with New Yorkers of all types. "I want this place to be friendly and inviting at lunch and dinner for local residents and business customers of all ages," she said in a press statement. "PT212 was designed as a welcoming environment to hang out, but also to have an affordable sushi or Thai meal with friends and family. As a long-time New Yorker, I am a proponent of style and substance over the more ostentatious trend currently witnessed in Thai and Asian cuisine being played out in Manhattan nightlife on the West Side." Created by Visual Mixology, the 5,000-square-foot venue is brightly painted and features decorative touches such as crochet and bamboo bent-wood lighting, ornate carved screens and a bar-top made of bottles.
