IN BRIEF
10 China to Phuket flights cancelled

Spiralling oil prices have prompted the cancellation of 10 charter flights from China to Phuket due to increased ticket prices.
Panu Maswongsa, vice president of the Phuket Tourism Business Association, said yesterday that hotels and tour agencies had lost about Bt100 million from the cancellation. The association has asked local operators to maintain their hotel room rates and services in order to attract other customers. The Chinese tourists were scheduled to visit in November but cancelled after the flight fare doubled to 4,800 yuan (about Bt23,000). The association said it would try to attract more tourists from Hong Kong and the Middle East to Thailand during the coming low season. - The Nation.
