Pojaman Shinawatra retains top spot among Thai Rak Thai donors
Pojaman Shinawatra is still the top donor to the Thai Rak Thai Party, according to party reports handed to the Election Commission (EC) yesterday. Political parties must report to the EC when they receive donations.The reports showed that four parties received donations last month. The ruling party received the biggest amount - Bt80.02 million - with Bt80m coming from Pojaman, the wife of the party's leader, Thaksin Shinawatra. The Democrat Party received only Bt1.16m while the Thai Citizen party received Bt4.5m. The For Heaven and Earth Party, received Bt30,000. - The Nation. -------------------------------------------------------- OPEN TO OFFERS: Chuwit being 'courted' by parties Chuwit Kamolvisit said yesterday he had been approached by several political parties asking him to join them for the October 22 election. Among them were the Pracharaj and Mahachon parties, Chuwit said. He said he had dined with Pracharaj leader Snoh Thienthong, a veteran politician credited with catapulting at least three party leaders to the premiership. Chuwit, who was a Chat Thai Party deputy leader before quitting to contest the April 19 Senate election, said he would consider an offer from the Chat Thai Party first. He said he had not made up his mind which party he would join. - The Nation. -------------------------------------------------------- GOVT FINANCE: Budget Bill unlikely before Oct Due to the absence of the House of Representatives, the Budget Bill for the fiscal 2007 year is unlikely to be passed by the beginning of the new fiscal year in October, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreangam said yesterday.
