FOOD NOTES
Big bites

The craze for the hot coffee buns from the Malaysian franchise Rotiboy has seen bakeries mushrooming in downtown Bangkok, especially in areas popular with young people who can't get enough of the Mexican inspired munchies.
And while Rotiboy is trying to keep its supply and demand balanced, competitors are jumping in to cash in on the act. The latest bakery to come up with a brand new version of this hot snack is Roti Mum, at its first branch opposite the Rutnin Eye Hospital on Soi Asoke. These coffee buns are being snapped up at Bt25 a pop. Saucy stuff Marine Resources and Development Co Ltd introduces Megachef, a premium fish sauce that is high in nutritional value and is made with the freshest of ingredients. Megachef is completely free of preservatives, colouring and monosodium glutamate, and has no unpleasant fishy odour. The makers are targeting modern housewives concerned about their family's health. The new sauce comes in two sizes (200ml and 700 ml) and is now available at most supermarkets. Solid sips Coffee World has comes up with an aromatic blend that tastes so good you can actually eat it. First introduced in Asia, Espresso Creme is a blend of coffee and special cream in mousse form topped with cocoa powder. Make sure you spoon it out quickly though because it's solid state lasts just eight minutes. The product is available at all branches of Coffee World until the end of this month and costs Bt50 a cup.
