Collapsed houses

Sinthanee residents seek LST's help to demand compensation Homeowners living in Bangkok's Sinthanee housing estate yesterday asked the Law Society (LST) to help them seek compensation, following the collapse of their houses last week.

The residents want the developer to pay for damage.

Jitlada Saengthongsuk is one of eight affected homeowners. She said they approached the LST following lack of cooperation from district officials.

She accuses the Wang Thonglang district office of not helping her and the other owners.

They are also unfamiliar with bureaucratic red tape.

Senior LST official Samak Chawaphanan said the society would decide this week if it can provide the homeowners with free legal help.

Samak hopes the dispute can be resolved through mediation, with the developer paying compensation.
