Delta Electronics to set up in Slovakia

Delta Electronics (Thailand) Plc plans to set up a subsidiary in Slovakia to manufacture power supply and electronics components as well as facilitate research and market access.
The company will establish Delta Electronics (Slovakia) which will be wholly owned by DET International Holding Ltd. The company's registered paid-up capital is about Bt243,000. The transaction is expected to be finalised in June.
Niko Resources to drill in Thailand Niko Resources Ltd announced last week its entry into Thailand through a 50-per-cent equity in a production and exploration block. The "Fang Block", owned by the Defence Energy Department, contains substantial shallow oil potential. The Fang Block has significant development potential with the discovery to date of 103 million barrels of oil. The Mae Soon oil field is the largest discovered in the area and contains an estimated 44 million barrels. Twelve wells are planned for this phase of development to starting in August 2006. In addition to the oil-field development, the Fang Block contains exploration areas to the north and to the south of the current production sites. These are a continuation of the producing basin but also contain separate basins.
Iron exporter eyes Asian markets Vietnam has exported its first 600 tonnes of high-quality colour galvanised iron sheets to Thailand and Pakistan, according to the Vietnam News Agency. The Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama) is the exporter, which plans to export 35 per cent of its products to Asian countries. The rest will go to the domestic market. Steel-maker aims for 40% growth Steel Intertech Plc, a manufacturer and distributor of rolled sheet metal for roofs and walls, expects sales growth of 40 per cent this year following its expansion into the roofing market, said its managing director Prasit Ounvorawong. The company recorded sales of Bt327.61 million last year. Prasit said the company had new projects worth Bt50 million in the second half of this year.
Six new Wow clubs to open this year California Wow Xperience Plc will open six new clubs in the second half of this year, said its chairman and CEO Eric Levine. They will be at Sukhumvit 31, Chaeng Wattana, Esplanade, Ratchada Ekamai, Pattaya and Asoke. The last will be its second deluxe six-star club, following the one in Siam Paragon, which opened in March. The company recorded total revenue of Bt262 million and net profit of Bt18 million in the first quarter of this year, up 47 per cent and 13 per cent, respectively, on the same period last year. The company's total revenue was Bt769 million last year, with net profit of Bt73 million. Amari names new marketing chief Kurt Rufli, managing director of Amari Hotels and Resorts has announced the appointment of Christian Lueke as corporate director of sales and marketing. Lueke is a German national with more than 10 years' sales experience with leading hotels in his homeland. His most recent position was director of sales and marketing for the HMS International Hotel Company, which owns the Maritime brand. Based at Amari's corporate office in Bangkok, Lueke will handle travel-trade contracting for European markets and the group's e-commerce and GDS strategy.
