A group calling itself "The Northeast Saves the Nation Network" yesterday filed a complaint with police against Election Commission chairman Vasana Puemlarp, accusing him of lese majesty.
One of the network's coordinators, Taikorn Pholsuwan, made the allegations yesterday, flanked by his lawyer at Bangkok's Pathum Wan police station. They submitted news reports as evidence to support their claim. They alleged Vasana had contradicted the April 25 comments made by His Majesty the King. According to news reports, Vasana defended the April 2 ballot - contested predominantly by candidates from the ruling party - as having been democratic. But the King, in well-publicised remarks, deemed the poll "undemocratic". Taikorn said Vasana might have erred when making the comments, raising the possibility he might not have thought about it thoroughly. "[But] I am a subject of His Majesty the King and I have to file a complaint against him," Taikorn said. "I want the police to investigate this case as they did Sondhi Limthongkul's case. They [police] should inquire about the case urgently," he said.
