Japan, India take US to the WTO over shrimp

Japan and India have demanded negotiations with the United States under the World Trade Organisation's dispute-settlement rules concerning its double-taxation practices applying to their shrimp exports.
Following Thailand, the two countries have informed the WTO of unfair practices by the US, including the imposition of anti-dumping duties and requirement for continuous bonds on shrimp export products. Japan and India both complain that the US measures violate the WTO's trade rules. Under US demands, shrimp exporting countries are subjected to both anti-dumping and continuous bond charges as guarantees for duty payment.
