Gulf Air eyes 140,000 passengers to Bangkok

Gulf Air expects to carry 140,000 passengers into Bangkok this year, attracted in part by a range of stopover deals.
The airline's passengers can now choose from a wide selection of hotels and apartments to suit their budgets at any point in the Gulf Air network. In Bangkok, for example, incoming passengers can stay at a choice of three-star hotels for US$16 (Bt600) per person.Other stopover deals open to travellers from Thailand are the Don Suites Rosebank in Johannesburg ($44), the Chief O'Neils in Dublin ($93), the Ramada Hotel in Oman ($77), the Holiday Villa in London ($97) and the Hotel Du Bois in Paris ($88). In addition, Gulf Air offers private vehicle transfers and car hire in many destinations. As long as the journey includes at least one sector on Gulf Air, the stopover programme takes care of all on-the-ground arrangements. Air traffic between Thailand and the nations of Bahrain and Oman has grown by 75 per cent over the past five years. The Middle East has become important to Thailand's economy because tourism from the region is regarded as highly lucrative. Arabs often take long holidays in Thailand and are known for spending large sums on shopping and private medical facilities. Suchat Sritama The Nation
