Thai AirAsia ups fuel surcharge by Bt100

Thai AirAsia is to increase its fuel surcharge by Bt100 on all domestic routes and most international flights from Monday.
Chief executive officer Tassapon Bijleveld said the airline would increase the charge from Bt300 to Bt400 on domestic routes, while international routes - except Bangkok-Penang and Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur - will rise from Bt500 to Bt600. Tassapon said the increase was necessary due to the rising price of oil. Should that fall, the surcharge might be reduced. In an effort to boost sales in the remainder of the year, the company is staging the Thai AirAsia Travel Fair between June 23-25 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok. The event is expected to attract more than 60 exhibitors, including a number of local and overseas tourism organisations, and visitors will be offered a range of special deals on tickets, hotel rooms and package tours. Thai AirAsia currently flies from Bangkok to nine domestic destinations - Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Hat Yai, Phuket, Narathiwat, Krabi and Surat Thani. It also serves eight international routes - Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Macau, Xiamen, Hanoi and Phnom Penh. Suchat Sritama The Nation
