EC Commissioner accused of lese majeste

A group calling itself "The Northeast Save the Nation Network" filed a complaint against Election Commission chairman Vasana Puemlap on Thursday, accusing him of lese majeste.
One of the network's coordinators, Taikorn Pholsuwan, made the allegations, flanked by his lawyer at Pathumwan police station. They submitted news reports as evidence to support their complaint. They alleged Vasana had contradicted the April 25 statement of His Majesty the King. According to news reports, Vasana defended the April 2 ballot - contested predominantly by candidates from the ruling party - as having been democratic. But HM the King, in wellpublicised remarks, deemed the poll "undemocratic". Taikorn said Vasana might have erred when making the comments, raising the possibility he might not have thought about it thoroughly. "[But] I am a subject of His Majesty the King and I have to file a complaint against him," said Taikorn. "I want the police to investigate this case as they did Sondhi Limthongkul's case. They [police] should inquire about the case urgently," he said. The Nation
