Government may ask other political parties on new election date

The government may seek the opinion of other leading political parties before securing the date of the new election, Bowornsak Uwanno, the cabinet's secretary general, said on Wednesday.
At the weekly cabinet meeting next Tuesday, the Cabinet will discuss the Constitution Court's decision to nullify the April 2 election and its ordering of a new election. "An option is that the Cabinet would ask the Election Commission to discuss the matter and gather their opinions on the proper date of the new election from other parties," he said. The ruling also stated that the new election would be held within 60 days, following the issuing of a Royal Decree. He added that it is ultimately up to what the Cabinet decides next Tuesday. The ruling also stated that a Royal Decree on the new election must first be issued by HM the King. The Nation
