For some reason Thai girls have taken on the idea that men want bony girlfriends. As a result, these girls have gone and taken dieting to extremes that would shock dieticians.

Four's arm, for example, looks no larger than an inch and a half across. Her face is so pale and gaunt that you can almost imagine what her skull looks like.

The fact of the matter is that being skinny has turned into a competition among fashionable modern Thai girls. At university I've heard numerous accounts of women going on seriously dangerous diet pills even when their body was perfect.

On one occasion a friend of mine actually fainted in the bathroom and knocked her head on the floor because of these diet pills. For these girls, if there's even a tiny trace of fat between the skin and the bone, it's diet time.

The diet is rarely healthy. It's a well-known fact that the only really healthy way to lose weight is to exercise.

Well, the problem is that exercise creates muscles, and the "fashionable" Thai women are adverse to that as well.

It's a dilemma that results in people choosing between self-starvation and diet pills.

It's ironic that women diet themselves to death not to impress us guys, but rather to impress other girls. It doesn't matter anymore what us guys think, but rather what their female friends consider "pretty".

For them, half-filled bras, bone-showing tops and skinny jeans are the vogue at the moment.

Don't forget that making yourself that skinny also turns your complexion darker, so bring on the whitening cream and the makeup to cover it.

Word on the Internet is that you no longer know what the person you've slept with looks like until the morning after - when she's washed her face.

And for goodness sake, this is not some feminist rant about how girls weighing over 60 kilograms can still look perfect. Overweight women aren't pretty either, but unhealthily skinny women are even uglier.

This is a call, rather, to women who are starving themselves to death to get some sense into their tiny little brains and start eating before they all die out through stupidity.

Allow me to say this once and for all, on behalf of normal men all over the world and particularly in Thailand: we like our women ample-breasted, with radiant healthy faces, and at least some degree of softness to the touch. We don't want to touch you and feel like we're caressing a stick.

If we wanted that, we'd just line up a row of chopsticks and date them instead.

There's no question how frustrating this is for men who like their women sensibly formed.

Apart from the decrease in the pool of choice when we take aesthetics into consideration, the choices become even fewer when we consider how vain women have become and how little self-esteem these girls must have.

It's quite sickening when one imagines having to date a skeleton that's empty both on the outside and on the inside.
