Thai juniors make grade

Thailand's junior Davis Cup team emulated their senior squad by qualifying for the World Group play-offs following their surprise 2-0 semi-final win over second-seeded Japan in the Asia/Oceania Qualifying Zone in Sarawak, Malaysia yesterday.
Peerakit Siributwong opened the Thai squad's account with a 6-2 6-1 win over Hiroki Moriya in the first rubber before Kittipong Wachiramanowong won their second point after a 6-4 6-4 victory over Yuki Matsuo. The Thai team earned a spot in the elite group tie which will be held in Barcelona in September regardless of today's final where they are due to play top seed Australia who advanced with a 2-1 win over South Korea. - The Nation.
