Hi-Tech no match for Wat

[BASKETBALL] Last year's runners-up Wat Noinoppakhun defeated Hi-Tech to force a three-way tie for the top spot in the women's Group B of the King's Cup Basketball Championships at Siam University Gymnasium yesterday.
Wat Noinoppakhun, who were tied at 18 after the first session, began to assert themselves as the game wore on and outplayed the exhausted Hi-Tech team to win the battle 62-45. The victory meant that Wat Noinoppakhun, Hi-Tech and Bangkok Bank ended up with identical five points, with only two advancing to the semi-finals. The organisers decided to pick the semi-finalists through a draw of lots that will be conducted today. The third team will play for the fifth position against the third-place finisher from Group A tomorrow. In Pool A, Rattana Bundhit collected their third straight win with a comfortable victory over Kasembundhit 55-35. Saengkae Thunkoch was the top scorer for Rattana Bundhit with 14 points. Rattana Bundhit is scheduled to play their last round-robin against 13-time champions Bangkok Bank today and the outcome will decide the top position. Chiang Mai University finished third in the group. In the men's division, hot favourites Thew Phai Ngarm finished their last round-robin on a high note, beating Sirichai Oil 84-73 to top group A. Spearheaded by "Black Giant" Chaiwat Kaedum, a national player, and rising star Pratchya Kruathiwa, Thew Phai Ngarm were involved in a close duel with Sirichai Oil during the first two quarters before intensifying their raids to take full control of the proceedings.
