Woman killed in Singapore

The Foreign Ministry is investigating whether a woman who died in Singapore on Tuesday was a Thai, deputy spokesman Kiattikhun Chartprasert said yesterday.

The fully clothed woman was found unconscious in a boarding house on Monday with her hands tied up. She died the following day in a Singapore hospital.

Singapore police believed she was a Thai because she had a Thai passport.

But the ministry found that it belonged to a Thai man and concluded that it was forged, Kiattikhun said.

The ministry is trying to locate the man identified in the passport as well as determine if the dead woman was Thai, he said.
