New family names from the Supreme Patriarch
People who want to have new family names should visit the Interior Ministry fair next week as the Supreme Patriarch has come up with 4,000 family names for them to choose.
Charnchai Sunthornmat, chief of Local Administration Department said on Saturday those who are interested could see the list and reserve the name they want during the fair which will be organized from May 12-14 at Rachamangkala Stadium, Hua Mark District. "The Supreme Patriarch has given altogether 4,000 family names and revered abbot of Chanasongkram Temple, Somdej Mahateeracharn, also give 1,000 names for people who wanted to have new names," Charnchai said. Receiving a family name from revered individuals, such as the Supreme Patriach, is considered a great blessing in Thai society. The fair that opens from 10am to 8pm will also comprise exhibitions on the ministry's law services involving guns, hotels, pawn shops, gambling and antique trades. The Nation
