IT'S ALL IN THE GAME
Mourinho gives crowd a thrill

Apart from the priceless championship trophy he has won for his fans as the second successive Premiership crown, Chelsea manager or "The Special One" Jose Mourinho also left a gift which costs up to 10 million pounds to the Blues fans.

Shortly after Mourinho was presented with his champion's medal after Chelsea's 3-0 win over Manchester United, he then walked to the edge of the pitch and took off his blazer and medal before throwing them into the crowd sparking a scramble among the fans to claim the remainders.

Mourinho said after the celebration: "The medal was for everybody but I think the person in the crowd who got the medal is a lucky guy who goes home with a fantastic memory or goes to eBay and makes a fortune." His wish has come true. The Guardian yesterday reported that the champion's medal sparked a bidding war on eBay. Bidding began at 50 pounds but last night a potential buyer pledged an unlikely 10 million pounds for what a Cheshire-based seller claimed was a genuine medal thrown to fans after the title-winning match.

Anyway, Mourinho might have something symbolic to the "throw-away". "Next year, I'm gonna get it again." - The Nation.

Yaowapa can't put her foot down

Thai taekwondo star Yaowapa Burapolchai seemed to be the happiest athlete at the recent Asian Taekwondo Championships when she won the gold medal plus the Most Valuable Player award. Beside the honours, she also earned Bt600,000 for her efforts, which she intends to spend on her new Honda Civic car. The only bad news was had was a foot injury sustained during the competition. Now she cannot push the brake on her new car because the injury is to her left foot. Although the car is now hers, she will have to wait at least two weeks before she is allowed to drive it. - The Nation.

'Leesaw' the new Casanova?

National football team striker Teeratep "Leesaw" Winothai said he doesn't mind being dubbed the new "Casanova" of sports after Paradorn Srichaphan, explaining it was better than being rumoured to be gay. Heart-throb "Leesaw" has been spotted in public with different dates including Cleo girl Pisarat Watcharakeerin, but caused a stir when he took sexy model and TV star Pitchanart Sakakorn to a national selection trial recently. That won him a dubbing from the entertainment media.

"I'd rather make news with women than men. My mum and dad will be less worried as long as there is no news about me being gay," said the ladies man, who did not wish to be compared with tennis star Paradorn in terms of their love lives. "He is an international athlete while I'm nowhere near his level," he said. "I don't want to be compared with him. I just want to be a nice guy and make a lot of friends from other fields." - The Nation.

Jakkrit takes aim at new role

SEA Games shooting gold medallist Jakkrit Panichpatikam has traded in his gun for a pair of soccer boots, but only temporarily. The national team shooter has become a leading star in a film named "Maktae Loketalueng", or Lucky Loser in English, which will be released on May 18. In the film he is a Thai who happens to be the Laotian national football team's coach and is struggling to take his team to this year's World Cup in Germany.

Due to his background as member of Thailand's national shooting team, the director found Jakkrit suitable for the coach's role, which is a character far different from Jakkrit in real life. Despite the fact that he is a playful and lively man, Jakkrit has to play his role as a strict and serious football coach. "I have to concentrate and show much emotion in the role since playing a coach is kind of difficult. However, I love acting and intend to do my best," said Jakkrit on the official movie website.

Now the National Shooting Sports Association of Thailand is worried that they may lose their pistol expert to showbiz. - The Nation.
