Drug rehab for Uthes
Bangkok's Dusit District Court yesterday ordered the husband of Chalasai "Mom Luk Pla" Yugala, to be submitted to a drug rehabilitation centre after he was arrested on Saturday while taking methamphetamines.
Uthes Chupwa, 30, allegedly confessed to police he was stressed out and was taking the drug for the first time. Since the police investigation found that Uthes had never been punished for any previous drug offence, the court sent him to a drug rehabilitation facility in Pathum Thani, in line with the Drug Addict Rehabilitation Act of 2002.Uthes' wife Chalasai was convicted in 1996 of poisoning her late husband Prince Thitipan "Than Kob" Yugala, at Asawin Palace. Chalasai's confession during the investigation prompted the Criminal Court to reduce her jail term from nine to six years. Later, the Appeal Court dropped the charge against her. The Nation
