Consumption of gasohol up fourfold

Domestic consumption of gasohol jumped fourfold in March from the same month a year earlier to a total of 3.43 million litres per day, according to the Energy Business Department.
Department head Panich Pongpirodom said the rise was consistent with the government's promotion of gasohol, a type of gasoline mixed with ethanol. He also reported that domestic consumption of diesel in March had risen by 2 per cent from the previous month, but fell 6 per cent from the same month a year earlier. Average daily consumption of diesel in March was 55.5 million litres, down 3.56 million litres from a year earlier.
