Groans and moans from TRT MPs over prospect of new poll

Thai Rak Thai MPs said yesterday they could accept another general election, but grumbled that it would be unfair to them.
"What did I do wrong? Other MPs who came from small parties were not human? Was the mistake from the candidate or not?" asked Teerachai Sankaew, an MP for Udon Thani. "It's unfair, when the former opposition did nothing 'wrong'," he said sarcastically. "I ask for fairness and the chance to work for at least six months before Parliament is dissolved in order to ensure political reform." Teerachai said he was ready to run again, but footing another campaign would be a big burden. "The April 2 election cost me about half a million baht. If there's a new poll I have to prepare Bt1.5 million because the opposition parties will contest too." Nakhon Ratchasima MP Suporn Atthawong said although he did not do anything wrong, and does not want to have to campaign again, he and the other endorsed MPs have to accept that it will happen. "Today there's no need to ask for fairness because there isn't any," he said. MP Pracha Prasopdee from Samut Prakan questioned whether another election would be fair to the people around the country. And the Democrat Party should take responsibility for the election. Even though it may not be fair to him, he is ready to accept it, he said. But Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva should take some blame for the election because the Democrats were a cause of the political crisis, he said. "The Democrat Party is always right, but actually they made trouble in the election. I didn't see anyone [from the Democrats] apologise for what they did in the past."
