Goat farming to be promoted in South
The Livestock Development Department is planning to promote goat farming in the South to serve the growing demand from the halal food industry. Sakchai Sriboonsue, deputy director-general of the department, said the plan was for a One Village One Goat Farm scheme. Three Pattani districts - Nong Chik, Yaring, and Khok Pho - will be promoted as pilot projects, with about 300 villagers involved. The department will provide farmers with 615 high-quality breeding stock. It is expected that the three districts will supply about 6,500 goats to halal food producers in the initial stage of the scheme. Export promotion: New entrepreneurs The Export-Import Bank of Thailand (Exim Thailand) and the Industrial Promotion Department have successfully completed their first joint training programme aimed at turning 110 small and medium-sized enterprises into potential new exporters. Sataporn Jinachitra, president of Exim Thailand, said that family business owners and start-up SME entrepreneurs had all completed the Creating New Export Entrepreneurs course, organised under the New Entrepreneurs Creation project. Media content: HK firm to supply True Hong Kong-based Broadband Network Systems Ltd (BNS) is working with True IPTV, the H.264-IPTV service of True Corp, to acquire key lifestyle content for its IPTV platform. The scope of the service provided by BNS includes sourcing and aggregating digital television channels from around the world for distribution over True's broadcast services. True has more than 400,000 broadband subscribers, and launched Thailand's first IPTV service, True IPTV, early this month with 10 channels across the entertainment, music, lifestyle, kids and news categories.
