Diesel prices to fall by Bt1 today

Major oil companies will today reduce their retail diesel prices by Bt1 per litre after the government said it would cut its contribution to the Oil Fund by the same amount.

Shell, Bangchak, Caltex, and PTT will bring down their retail prices to Bt26.09 from Bt27.09 at 5am.

TMB delays sale

TMB Bank has postponed its plan to raise Bt32.2 billion through a share sale from May 15 to sometime within the next six months after the annual shareholders' meeting held yesterday.

The bank's president Subhak Siwaraksa blamed the political uncertainty for the decision to delay selling the 3.2 billion shares.

Deposit rate up

Thanachart Bank said it would raise the interest rate on its three-month time-deposit accounts by 1.5 percentage points, effective yesterday.

OTO wins bid

One To One Contacts Co Ltd (OTO), a subsidiary of Samart Corp Plc, has won a bid held by the Provincial Electricity Authority, to run an outsourcing call centre for the agency's power customers.

The three-year contract is valued at Bt108 million, Smart said in a statement to the Stock Exchange of Thailand. Samart owns 95.99 per cent of OTO.

Eastern fruit

Foreign and domestic demand for fruit from the eastern region is projected to increase by 40 per cent and 20 per cent respectively, according to the Thai News Agency.

Caretaker Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Sudarat Keyuraphan said the projection was based on this year's Bt220-million action plan to push durian, rambutan and mangosteen grown in the East.

TOT gets adviser

TOT Plc expects to appoint British Telecom to advise it on the modernisation of the nationwide telecommunications network.

Chamras Tantrisukorn, senior executive vice president for TOT's network, said the deal should be signed within the next two months.
