Party warns MPs-elect

The Thai Rak Thai Party yesterday warned its MPs-elect against commenting on who should be Senate speaker.

Party spokesman Jatuporn Prompan said the Senate speaker would be decided by the 200-member Upper House.

Jatuporn said a senior party member told him to warn MPs-elect like Pracha Prasopdee (Samut Prakan) to stop going on about a certain senator-elect being suitable for the speaker's post.

He said the party senior was also likely to reprimand Pracha himself.

Pracha reportedly endorsed former Bangkok governor Samak Sundaravej for the Senate speaker's post.
