Snatched newborn baby is reunited with parents

The newborn snatched from a hospital in Lop Buri more than week ago was reunited with her parents yesterday morning.
Police returned Nong Nan to the hospital for treatment at about 3am. Doctors said the twin's respiratory system and heartbeat were normal, but she had lost about 80 grams. Her parents arrived at the hospital at about 10am. Well-wishers surrounded mother Ratree Trakanchan as she embraced her daughter. "I'm so glad the authorities managed to bring my daughter back," father Suprot Khanthongdee said. Suprot said he planned to rename Nong Nan, Nong My while the younger twin, Nong Noon, would be renamed Nong May. "I hope the name change will bring them good luck," Suprot said. Nong Nan's abductor has been identified as 20-year-old Pimpa Onthong. Pimpa was caught on Friday at a Si Sa Ket hospital where she was seeking treatment for a feverish Nong Nan. Pimpa said she stole the baby because she wanted a child after her own pregnancy was terminated. Yesterday, police took Pimpa to re-enact her crime. Pimpa is being held in custody and is charged with child abduction. No one has submitted a bail request for her. Before Pimpa's arrest, police suspected a mistress of Suprot might have been the kidnapper.
