Democrat leak EC's investigation results: TRT

Thai Rak Thai Party accused on Friday the Democrat Party of leaking the investigation result by the Election Commission's sub committee that concluded that Thai Rak Thai Party hired small parties to run in the election.

Vichit Plangsrisakul, Surachai Baochanya, Kuthep Saikrachang and Wirat Tayangkanont, a legal and political team of Thai Rak Thai Party organised a press conference saying that there was coordinated effort to destroy Thai Rak Thai Party by leaking incomplete report of the subcommittee to the media.

Kuthep said that the party believed that the Democrat Party is behind the move. "There were reports released to the media that the EC will dissolve the party,'' he said.

Vichit said the subcommittee only gathered evidence following accusation by Democrat Party secretarygeneral Suthep Thuagsuban and its report was just a primary investigation and the final conclusion is yet to be reached. "We wonder why this report is revealed to the public when it is supposed to be state confidential because it is still under investigation,'' he said.

He said that he asked Thai Rak Thai Party highranking officials if any one was involved as accused and they all denied.

Kuthep said that the party that should be resolved is the Democrat because it has not stopped creating public confusion and is trying to stop this election. Its rally in Trang that joined by People's Alliance for Democracy attacking Thai Rak Thai Party. "Thai Rak Thai Party leader Thaksin Shinawatra announced to take a political break to create reconciliation in the country but the Democrats do not want reconciliation,'' he said.

Surachai said that he filed a criminal suit against Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, Suthep, and Democrat Party spokesman Ongart Klampaibun for their smear campaign against the party and the court accepted to hear the case on May 29.
