MAI, 'the new investment beat'
The fifth Thai Investors' Day will be held on May 6 and 7 at the Stock Exchange of Thailand building, and will promote the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI) as a new investment destination. At "MAI..The New Investment Beat", investors will learn about listed companies and potential listings, consult with brokers and enjoy games and giveaways, said MAI president Chanitr Charnchainarong. "Investors and entrepreneurs will receive an abundant amount of useful information, to ensure that they are both well-informed and prepared for today's challenges," he said. "The outstanding feature is that they will be able to learn about the strengths and potential of companies about to list on the MAI, and they can share the insights of professional analysts." Rubber Farms Trees, hi-tech for North, Northeast The Agriculture Department is to spend Bt100 million to develop both new varieties of high-quality rubber and innovative farm technologies to serve the expansion of rubber production in the country's North and Northeast. Rubber growers will be encouraged to focus more on high technology uses for processed rubber and build on Thailand's strength as one of the world's major rubber producers. The department's director-general, Adisak Sreesunpkit, said researchers would focus on developing new varieties of rubber to suit the different climate of the North and Northeast. For instance, rubber trees are needed that can grow in low rainfall areas. He said the agency would also introduce hi-tech and innovation to produce new products, which will be patented to create value.
