LATE NEWS
Cheaper fuel

The energy and transport ministers will meet tomorrow with PTT Plc officials to discuss supplying fuel at special rates to the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority and bus operators, thus helping to cushion their impact from the sharp spike in oil prices.

Caretaker Transport Minister Pongsak Ruktapongpisal said that during yesterday's Cabinet meeting, Energy Minister Viset Choopiban had been placed in charge of discussing the possibility with PTT.

He said Bangkok and provincial bus operators had been asking permission to increase their fares, due to higher diesel prices, and it seemed impossible to put off their request any longer. If PTT quoted a special price for its fuel, bus operators - and their customers - would receive some measure of relief. - The Nation.
