Thailand A take 3rd place

[FOOT VOLLEY] Thailand A's Thanee Ruangsri and Winai Thonglai took third place in the World Foot Volley League yesterday after downing fellow countrymen Thailand C in the First Division competition.
After going down to Brazil 0-2 in the semi-final, Thailand A quickly recovered to outplay Somporn Jaisinghol and Teeraphorn Ngeksorno 18-9 18-11 in the third place play-off. Somporn and Teeraphorn had earlier lost to Spain in straight sets in the other semi-final. "We really felt bad in the game with Brazil. We didn't play badly but they were too strong," said Thanee. "We lost to them easily in the first set but tried to come back in the second set by focusing on our defence, which helped a lot but we still lost," said a disappointed Winai. Brazil and Spain were scheduled to battle for the championship trophy later yesterday evening. In the Second Division, Holland A beat the US two 2-0 to take the title and prize money of Bt10,000. The Dutch team beat Thailand E while the Americans ousted Thailand B in the semi-finals.
