Thai B surprise A team

[BEACH VOLLEYBALL] Thailand B's Yupa Phukrongploy and Usa Tenpaksee stunned compatriots Kamolthip Kulna and Jarunee Sannok to advance to the semi-finals of the Samila Asian Beach Volleyball Tour in Songkhla yesterday.
SEA Games silver medallists Yupa and Usa trounced Thailand A's Kamolthip and Jarunee 25-23 12-21 16-14. But Kamolthip and Jarunee still earned a place in the semi-finals as they later upset fellow countrywomen Nonglak Khorsoongnoen and Supannee Doksantia 21-16 21-10. Nonglak and Supannee thrashed Sri Lanka A's KK Geethika Lalani Gunawardna and WW Sujeewa 21-17 21-12 in the third round and later defeated New Zealand B's Micah Lindsay-Brown and Tania Lindsay 21-18 21-8 in the quarter-finals. The two local teams have to win their matches today to make it an all Thai final showdown. Kamolthip and Jarunee face Japan A's Chiaki Kuzuhara and Satoko Urata, while Yupa and Usa face Japan B's Shinako Tanaka and Eiko Koizumi in the semi-final. Meanwhile, three Thai men's squads crashed out of the competition, which is being played under the double elimination format. Thailand B's Sitthichai Sangkhachot and Artit Wongtorn went down to Kazakhstan A's Dmitriy Vorobyev and Pavel Zabuslayev 11-21 16-21 in the second round and then lost to compatriots Sonthi Bunrueng and Borworn Yungthin of Thailand A 17-21 17-21 in the third round
