Two shot dead in South

Gunmen shot dead two men in separate incidents in this southern province, while a combined force of about 150 fully armed police and soldiers raided 10 locations in Joh I Rong district and detained five suspected insurgents under the controversial Emergency Decree, which permits arrest without charges.
Police said Sakari Malaheng, 53, was gunned down on the Yala-Bethong road shortly after leaving a nearby mosque following Friday prayers, while Abdulah Yusoh, 64, was shot dead near his residence in Sungai Padi district. Authorities believe both incidents were related to the ongoing violence in the three southernmost provinces. Meanwhile, a military source said the five suspects detained in Joh I Rong were on a secret blacklist of the Fourth Army Area, the key security agency responsible for the restive Malay-speaking provinces. The force that swept through Jong I Rong yesterday comprised 15 units. The Nation NARATHIWAT
