PTT Exploration gets Oman block
PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) announced its successful bid to obtain exploration and production rights in Oman. It is anticipated that PTTEP will have signed an exploration and production sharing agreement by June.
The onshore "block number 58" covers approximately 2,200 square km. The block is in southwest Oman and the primary geological study for the block indicates crude oil potential. Block 58 will be the second PTTEP project in the country following the Oman 44 Project, which PTTEP acquired the exploration and production rights to in 2002 and where it is scheduled to commence production in the middle of the year.
