'Splash' at Tesco

Tesco Lotus will get into the Songkran spirit with its customers at each of its hypermarkets and smaller stores nationwide by setting up Buddha images for the festival, which runs from tomorrow to Sunday. The chain will also offer promotions for goods.

"Everything customers might need for the Songkran holidays will be available at our 55 hypermarkets," said Gwyn Sundhakulcustomer,  marketing director. "Offering sets for monks are only Bt90 per 1.5-litre bucket, or Bt170 for two 2.5-litre buckets." - The Nation.

Roche's new grant

Roche recently announced that its Foundation for Anaemia Research had established a grant of up to 2.4 million Swiss francs (Bt70.15 million), to be awarded at the end of the year to support research into new and promising therapies.

The grant is designed to stimulate research into erythropoietic agents to prevent damage to tissues and organs, such as the eyes, heart, blood vessels and kidney as a result of disease or trauma.

These important agents are currently used to treat anaemia caused by chronic kidney disease, cancer or chemotherapy, by stimulating red blood cell production in the body.
