Thaksin will travel to London next week

Thai Rak Thai Party leader Thaksin Shinawatra said on Saturday he will leave for a holiday in London next week.

"I am going to England sometime next week and will be there for many days," he told reporters before playing a round of golf with members of his TRT party at a golf course at an outskirt of Bangkok.

One of his daughters is studying in London.

Thaksin, 56, has announced that he would step aside as premier despite his party's victory in the April 2 election. His abruptly announcement came just hours after he was granted an audience with HM the King.

Thaksin, who remains party leader and a member of parliament, declined to comment Saturday on demands by his opponents that he leave politics altogether, or on who may succeed him as prime minister.

"I don't know anything about politics," he quipped.

Thaksin said that before leaving for Britain he would cast his vote for April 19 senate election. He said yes when was asked whether he would go to see World Cup in Germany in June. "I will travel all over the world, now I am jobless," he said.
