Agri-Pure ban prolonged: SET

A prohibition on net settlement and margin trades in Agri-Pure Holdings Plc stock and warrants will stay in place until July 7, the Stock Exchange of Thailand announced yesterday.
Brokerage firms have been barred from letting their clients buy and sell the stock on the same day since January 11. They are also barred from lending funds to clients for the purposes of buying the stock. The SET said that despite the absence of net settlements and margin trading from January 11 to April 5, there had been irregular movements in the company's warrant prices and trading volume, which were not in line with the market conditions. Due to these issues the regulator opted to extend the temporary ban by 60 addition days. - The Nation. ------------------------------------------------------ Card rate ceiling stands: BOT The Bank of Thailand will not consider adjusting the maximum rate credit-card firms can charge their clients until all business operators submit proof of their operating costs. Krirk Vanikkul, assistant governor of the central bank, said that only a few operators had submitted documentation on their costs, which was not enough to allow the central bank to make a decision. The Credit Card Club proposed that the maximum rate of 18 per cent should be raised because they have shouldered higher costs ever since interest rates started climbing. "If we see that higher interest rates are raising their costs and that the maximum credit-card rate should be raised accordingly, we can consider it, but without the information we don't know how to proceed with their proposal," Krirk said.- The Nation. ------------------------------------------------------ THAI slashes holiday prices Thai Airways International will introduce special discount air tickets to 10 domestic destinations during April 10-17.
