Public bus fares hiked after Songkran Day

Public bus fares will be hiked by Bt1 after the Songkran festival, in line with increases for minibus and private bus services, which increased earlier this year.

Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) acting director Opas Petchmunee yesterday said the fare for nonairconditioned buses would increase from Bt6 to Bt7 per trip, while those for airconditioned buses would be hiked from Bt10-18 and Bt11-19 from April 17.

EURO II bus fares will remain the same.

The increase has been put down to increasing diesel prices.

The last price hike for minibus and private bus fares was on February 1, an increase of Bt1 per trip.
