Tune-up for the juniors

[ICE SKATING] Local junior ice-skaters will have a chance to sharpen their skills in the Skate Thailand Championships taking place on the fifth floor at Imperial World, Samrong this weekend.

Organised by the Figure and Speed Skating Association of Thailand (FSAT), the tournament will serve as a stepping stone for rising star skaters to represent the country at international events in the near future, including the Asian Winter Games in China next year.

A total of 36 skaters will compete in nine events consisting of men's and women's groups, ice-dancing, ice-dancing group, senior group, creative-showmanship, creative-choreography, creative-step.

"We hope this contest will raise Thai skating standards to international standards and we are very proud that our skaters are underdogs to only China and Japan in Asia," said FSAT president Anan Bamrungpruek.
