IN BRIEF
FAT unveils new approach

Football Association of Thailand (FAT) president Vijitr Getkaew yesterday proposed a new policy aimed at improving Thai football and also to help the national team qualify for the next World Cup in South Africa. His two-year project includes establishing coaching institutes, youth centres and helping local leagues be more professional.

The major target for the FAT is to take Thailand to the World Cup in 2010 or 2014. In the short term, the FAT expects the Thai team to reach the semi-finals at both the Asian Games in December and the Asian Cup next year . FAT secretary-general Worawi Makudi also plans to bring Brazil to play a special match in Thailand in September to celebrate the 60th year of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne. - The Nation.
