Ten minutes later, a bomb went off in front of an office of Tambon Administration Authority in Takbai which was used as a polling station. The explosion injured no one.

Police were on alert for more attacks as they were transporting the ballot boxes.

Earlier suspected miltiants tried to disturb the election by placing empty boxes with a mobile phone taped on it to make people think they were explosives at seven areas in Pattani's Yarang district.

Police had to cordon off the areas only to find that they were empty boxes.
