Thais in Germany are the champ

Thais living in Germany are the largest group who voted in Sunday's election, followed by those in the United States and China, Foreign Ministry spokesman Kitti Wasinondh said on Friday.

"During the voting for Thais overseas from March 17 to 26, 4,348 Thais in Germany cast their ballots, becoming the largest group, followed by the US (4,244) and China (3,122)," Kitti said at a press briefing.

Of the 123,913 Thais in 88 countries who registered to vote, 33,977, or 27.42 per cent, cast their ballots. The number of overseas ballots cast for Sunday's election is 7,905 less than for last year's national election, Kitti said.

The ballots have already been shipped to Election Commission in Bangkok.

The Constitution allows Thais living abroad to cast their ballots in advance after registering with the local Thai diplomatic office.
