Some 400 motorcyclists protest at Manager head office

Some 400 pro-government taxi motorcyclists rallied briefly outside the head office of Manager Group of Sondhi Limthongkul Friday afternoon but were quickly driven back by anti-Thaksin protesters.
The taxi motorcyclists arrived in front of Ban Phra Arthit, the head office of Manager Daily, at 5 pm and kept on shouting "Sondhi get out". Some of them laid a black wreath in front of the office and burned it while other motorcyclists shouted "Sondhi get out". Many policemen were deployed to keep law and order in the area. The Manager Daily retaliated by playing the "Ai Khon Na Liam" 9 (Square-faced bad man) which was apparently satirical against Thaksin to overcome the shouts of motorcyclists. A brief turmoil occurred when some motorcyclists tried to rush inside the compound where the head office of ASTV was located. Some managed to pass security officials inside but were taken out. Some of them also threw things inside the compound. People living nearby came out to shout "Thaksin get out" to fight back at motorcyclists. Seeing more people come out to shout at them, the motorcyclists left at 5:10 pm after rallying there for about ten minutes. Manager Online reported that the group of motorcyclists were led by Narongsak Manee and Surat Chaiyaphan. They drove from an area behind Chatuchak Park where the Caravan of the Poor protesters are camping. The group called at the Royal Thai Police head office at 3:30 pm to file complaints with police alleging Sondhi, a decision maker of the People's Alliance for Democracy, with lese majeste. They submitted a copy of Kom Chad Luek's March 24 edition as evidence. The protest at the Manager Daily came just a day after some 4,000 members of the Caravan of the Poor held employees of Nation Multimedia Group hostages on Thursday to force Kom Chad Luek to admit that it had reported what Sondhi had really said. Earlier, Kom Chad Luek announced that what appeared to be lese majeste quote of Sondhi was in fact editorial of the paper itself. But after the Caravan of the Poor sealed off the head office of Nation Multimedia Group for nearly eight hours, Kom Chad Luek agreed to announce that it had quoted what Sondhi had really said.
