New charges ready for Prachai

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) is preparing to press charges against Prachai Leophairatana, former owner and chief executive of Thai Petrochemical Industry Plc (TPI), for embezzling Bt500 million worth of TPI assets since August 30, 2005.
After meeting with Prachai at DSI headquarters yesterday, Pol General Sombat Amornvivat, director-general of the DSI, said that that the TPI administration planner filed a case against Prachai for signing a 90-year contract to lease TPI Tower and that the agreement lacked transparency. The department has also investigated Prachai's transfer of assets worth Bt500 million to a German fund last year. "We believe that the both cases will be complete within the next two month," Sombat said. - The Nation.
