Opposition Party support royally-appointed prime minister

Democrat Party have called for caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to ask HM the King for royally appointed premier to end the ongoing political chaos.
Democrat Party Abhisit Vejjajiva said in a flyer distributed at the party's rally at Sanam Luang on Friday, "the prime minister and his cabinet should seek a royal audience and ask for royally appointed prime minister and cabinet."Thaksin only believes in the democrat system when he can exploit it," Abhisit told the cheering crowd, estimated to be about 50,000. The Democrats and two other leading opposition parties have boycotted April 2 snap election, which they said cannot be run fairly. Abhisit accused Thaksin of interfering in the work of independent watchdogs like the National Counter Corruption Commission and the Constitutional Court to subvert the system of checks and balances. The Democrats have also called for an independent investigation into claims of corruption and abuse of power by Thaksin. They also want Thaksin to commit to a program of political reforms. The Democrat rally came one day before a group of activists hold their own rally to demand that Thaksin resign. Those protesters, organised by a loose coalition called the People's Alliance for Democracy, have also called for a royally-appointed prime minister. The Nation
