Producer expands in bid to sustain its growth
Thai Stainless Steel, the manufacturer of Seagull stainless-steel kitchenware, plans to expand its target group of consumers from those aged 35 and over to first-jobbers, in order to sustain long-term business growth. To catch the attention of the new group, the company has added a new product line to its kitchenware featuring a lifestyle concept and including products such as salad implements, said the company's chief executive, Aroon Ruengcharungpong. The new line will create the perception that Seagull products are not created just for cooking but are enjoyable to use while cooking, he said. The company sees the need to attract young customers to ensure long-term business growth, because the new target group will become long-term customers. Thai Stainless Steel is showcasing the new Seagull product line in all its showrooms, including a newly opened unit at Ploenchit Centre, built to replace its old showroom on Thong Lor road. The new showroom, which has the company's new head office attached, was formally opened yesterday. Both the showroom and the head office required investment of Bt10 million, Aroon said. Thai Stainless Steel is planning to open another three showrooms this year. One will be in Surat Thani province. Locations for the other two have not yet been confirmed. Each showroom will require investment of between Bt2 million and Bt3 million. The company's sales since the beginning of this year look like meeting its first-quarter target of Bt120 million. It is aiming for sales of Bt570 million over the whole year, a 20-per-cent growth over last year. Seagull has a 20-per-cent share of the domestic and exported kitchenware markets, which are valued at between Bt2 billion and Bt3 billion. Zebra stainless-steel kitchenware is the market leader.
