FRIDAY BUG
Wristbands for royalty

It was a very special occasion that called for Siam Commercial Bank president and chief executive officer Khunying Jada Wattanasiritham to do something unusual in public.

Always prim and proper when making public appearances, Jada sprang a surprise on Wednesday in front of the media when she joined an alliance to support a campaign to raise funds to offer to His Majesty the King on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his accession to the throne.

With each Bt100 contribution, donors will receive a yellow wristband and a postcard to be written and sent to the King.

Jada wore a yellow polo shirt like everyone else, including executives and teen celebrities. Then the reporters noticed that she had folded her sleeves just like the teenagers had.

"We were surprised since Jada always makes such a demure appearance," said a reporter.

So, to completely transform herself into a modern teen fashion plate, reporters encouraged Jada to pull her collar upright. Jada joyfully played along.

Unfortunately, we couldn't snap a picture of her wearing her wild and wacky polo shirt. However, Jada has shown that for our beloved King, Thai people, whether rich or poor, old or young, are willing to do anything.
