Civil court: Seizure of Kamnan Poh assets
The Civil Court yesterday accepted a public prosecutor's request for an extended seizure of assets belonging to Somchai Kunplome, the influential former local official known as "Kamnan Poh". Assets worth more than Bt30 million were allegedly received as bribes in connection with a garbage-disposal project in Chon Buri.
Kitinant Thachpramuk said the assets had been seized at the order of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) but the 90-day deadline for the seizure ended yesterday. The court accepted the request and said it would reach a ruling in a few days. AMLO has been investigating a Bt93-million garbage-disposal project from 1992. - The Nation.
