TRT to hand out VCDs of PM

The Thai Rak Thai Party will distribute 500,000 copies of video CDs with a speech by caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra yesterday urging voters to cast a vote on April 2.
Thaksin's message was broadcast live in the Election Commission's allotted time for political parties contesting the snap election. "I urge fellow citizens to vote on April 2 and will abide by the balloting outcome," he said in the televised programme. He said his party was facing strong opposition due to its success in mustering support from 14.4 million party members. "I believe I still have the trust of fellow citizens as I have committed no wrongdoing, no legal offence, and I am not lacking in ethical standards," he said. Thaksin claimed his opponents tried to attack him with distorted information and undemocratic means. - The Nation.
Complaint over bids for royal action A man filed a police complaint against two top academics yesterday, alleging they violated the Constitution with separate attempts to seek royal intervention to replace Thaksin Shinawatra and appoint a premier. Chanapan na Nakhon, a former labour adviser, claimed Thammasat University rector Surapon Nitikraipot and Vajiravudh College director Chai-anan Samudavanija broke political law when they tried to "overthrow Thaksin with non-constitutional means". Surapon circulated an open letter calling for a royal-appointed successor to Thaksin and Chai-anan submitted a petition calling for royal intervention. - The Nation.
