Boonchu too good in Temple Run

[MARATHON] SEA Games gold medallists Boonchu Chandecha and Boonthung Srisang won the men's marathon and half-marathon at the scenic Thailand Temple Run yesterday.

The event was held in Amphawa district and the abbot of Wat Phumarinkudithong sprinkled holy water on all the runners before hitting a gong to start the 42.195km marathon.

In the last 200 metres Boonchu, who won the recent Khon Kaen International Marathon, Jirasak Suttichart and Amnuay Tongmitr ran shoulder to shoulder but finally Boonchu hit the finish line first after two hours and 40.08 minutes.

Jirasak and Amnuay were only several hundreds of a second slower.

"This was a tough course, the weather was very hot and I'm not satisfied with my performance," said Boonchu.

"However, I'm happy that I defended my title because I was sick before this competition and I trained for only one week."
